Business and Arts South Africa
Business & Arts South Africa (BASA) was established in 1997 as a joint initiative of government through the Department of Arts & Culture, and the corporate sector. BASA is mandated to build and secure partnerships between business and the arts, serving both sectors in ways that are mutually beneficial.
BASA Special Projects, run in association with specific partners, have two primary objectives: to mainstream arts and culture and so build awareness and drive corporate interest, and to develop better skills within the arts sector. BASA continues to position itself as a resource for its members in terms of insights, knowledge, research and information.
Over the past years, BASA directly impacted on the business approach to the arts and shifted how arts/culture is perceived and valued by business and society at large. The 4th World Summit on Arts and Culture affords Africa a global platform to be part of the decision and policies that benefit the continent. BASA and partners look forward to hosting the summit and empowering the sector through close collaboration and implementing outcomes.
