Low Ngai Yuen to programme the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Ms Low Ngai Yuen has be appointed to the role of Programme Director for the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture, a four day international event that will explore the theme MOBILE MINDS: Culture, Knowledge and Change.

The Summit will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11-14 March 2019 and promises to bring together leading policy makers, researchers, managers and practitioners from the arts and culture sector from around the world address questions of tradition, innovation, and digitalisation, and how governments can respond to the needs of society through cultural policies and public support for arts and culture.

IFACCA to attend 52nd Meeting of ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information

On Tuesday 21 November members of the IFACCA Board will attend part of the 52nd Meeting of ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Magdalena Moreno, Executive Director and Stephen Wainwright, Chair will present to delegates on the Federation and its members, and highlight the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture which will take place in Kuala Lumpur in 2019. The meeting coincides with the 48th meeting of the IFACCA Board, during which the Programme Director for the 8th World Summit will be formally announced at a national press conference.

 

8th World Summit on Arts and Culture Theme Announced

MOBILE MINDS: Culture, Knowledge and Change will be the theme of the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 11-14 March 2019. The World Summit, to be co-hosted by IFACCA and the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) of the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture, is expected to attract arts leaders and key policy makers from up to 80 countries.

 

Preliminary Conclusions: 7th World Summit on Arts and Culture brings arts leaders together 9and announcement of the host of the 8th World Summit

The 7th World Summit on Arts and Culture concluded today in Valletta, Malta. The Summit brought together over 380 delegates from nearly 90 countries to debate new approaches to cultural leadership. 

…The final day of the Summit saw the official handover from Arts Council Malta to the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in Malaysia, as the host of the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture, to be held in 2019. Tan Sri Norliza Rofli, Director General of JKKN, who has been charged with the delivery of the next World Summit, expressed her enthusiasm for working with the IFACCA board and secretariat and invited all delegates to reconvene in Malaysia for early 2019.
