Session Formats

In Conversations

In Conversation sessions will run for one hour and will be attended by all delegates. A pair of invited speakers will engage in a lively discussion about each day’s theme. Different perspectives, ways of working and solutions to problems will emerge through dialogue and exchange.

Provocations

In response to each day’s In Conversation several invited speakers will continue our investigation of the day’s theme. These Provocation sessions will run for one and a half hours and will be attended by all delegates. Provocations will host up to five speakers, each of whom will deliver a presentation, engage in open conversation with fellow panellists, and participate in Q&A with delegates.

Response session: World Café

World Café sessions will encourage and facilitate conversation between small groups of up to 10 delegates. The session will run for 1.5 hours and will be divided into three 20-minute sections during which table hosts will guide conversation around a specific question (which will be provided). These will be followed by a round-up, during which delegates will share key findings and perspectives.

Long Tables

Each Long Table session will include three provocateurs, who will open the session by sharing their perspective on the key issues and play an ongoing active role in discussions. Long Table sessions will run for 1.5 hours in parallel with other sessions. At any given time, there may be up to 12 people seated at the table and actively engaging in conversation. In the first 15 minutes of the session, provocateurs will each share their perspective, before the facilitator opens conversation to the group. The facilitator and provocateurs will stay seated at the table throughout the session; all other delegates are welcome to join the table when they wish to contribute to discussion.

Workshops

The participatory workshops will use creativity to explore how we can craft our futures. Each workshop will be led by a creative practitioner with a unique perspective on the theme Safeguarding Artistic Freedom. Workshops will have strictly limited places. Full information will be sent to registered delegates before the Summit.

Panels

Panel sessions may be drawn from the arts and culture sector, other sectors that are pioneering in relevant areas, or collaborations between sectors. These sessions will run for 1.5 hours in parallel with other sessions, and will be attended by up to 100 delegates. Presentation sessions will have up to four presenters, each of whom will deliver a 5-minute presentation/initial statement followed by conversation and Q&A with delegates.
